Pearl and Crystal Leaf Earrings

A pair of leverback earrings built around a single round pearl, cradled inside a slim open crescent and framed above and below by marquise cut crystals set in a leaf spray. The upper cluster fans across the top of the pearl with three marquise stones and a small round accent; the lower cluster mirrors it in miniature, so the whole design reads as a bud opening rather than a symmetrical halo. Every stone is claw set with fine beaded prongs, and the crescent that wraps the pearl is polished to a high mirror finish, which throws light back around the pearl and makes it look lit from behind.

The fastening is a hinged leverback that closes flush behind the lobe, so there are no butterfly backs to lose and no weight dragging on the piercing — they sit close and stay put through a long day. Scaled at just over a centimetre, they are large enough to register from across a room and small enough to wear to work without thinking about it. Available in gold tone and silver tone. Wedding and occasion pieces first, but the shape is quiet enough for a plain shirt. Keep them away from perfume, hairspray and water, and store them in the box between wears — pearl surfaces are soft and mark easily.
